Scott Pilgrim en Calaca

I've been working exclusively in Mexican "day of the dead" sculptures for the last few years--"calacas," as they're often referred to with due affection--but only recently got the dander up to make a go at actually doing so with commercial intentions.

This is, of course, the piece that set those wheels in motion. When director Edgar Wright put out a request for Scott Pilgrim-themed art through his Facebook group, I was practically apoplectic... before realizing that the only thing I'm remotely good at is making these calveras.

So, I did. And he loved it. Enough to give me a shout-out via his blog, and to politely decline my slavish offers to send the damn thing to him.

As appears, Scott is equipped with his "Power of Self-Respect" sword, his custom Smashing Pumpkins/SP shirt, trendy sweatbands and a look of total confusion on his boney little face. The base is a custom representation of his 8-bit skull shirt from the film.
